When do registrations end?
Registrations will end on October 18. This allows us enough time to finalize the rosters and work on the practice and game schedule. If it’s an issue of not having the money until the end of the month, let us know and we can work something out. If you receive this after October 18, still e-mail me about registering.
How can my child sign up?
You can mail the registration form to the address provided on it or drop it off at the Fox C-6 Administration Building or register online at www.FoxBasketballLeague.com
When and where do the practices take place?
Practices take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We have the gyms reserved from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Times and frequency of practices will be determined by both the coach and the league coordinator. Some teams may choose to practice once a week, while some may practice twice a week. Practice times are from 5:30-6:45, 6:45- 8:00 and 8:00- 9:30. We make every attempt possible to have the practices at a school near your home.
Itty Bitty League- This if for kids in grades PK, K- and any 1st graders who choose to do so- as 1st graders can also play in the 1st/2nd division. They will play with baskets that lower down to eight feet. This will be completely run by the Fox High Girls’ Basketball Coaching staff and players. They will do 30 minutes of skills and 30 minutes of games. This will take place at Fox High School on the following dates from 8-9 am; Dec. 10, 17, Jan. 7, 21, 28 and a weeknight to be named later.
When do the practices and games start?
Practices will start November 5. The first game will be on December 7. The league will end by February 6. Your coach will contact you to inform you about when and where your practices are. Information will also be posted on the Fox Basketball League website at www.FoxBasketballLeague.com Rosters will also be posted here.
How are teams divided up?
Our first priority is to place players on teams based off of the school they attend. For example, if we have 10 3rd/4th grade girls from Fox Elementary, we will place those kids on one team. However, if we only have 5 Fox Elementary girls and 5 Guffey girls, we will combine those teams. The teams are divided into 4 divisions (1st/2nd, 3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade, and 7th/8th grade).
We do our best to accommodate any special requests such as playing for a particular coach or being on the same team as another player due to transportation issues. However, location is our main priority. We don’t want to have a Seckman Elementary student traveling to Fox High School once or twice a week for practice.
Can I bring an entire team into the league?
Absolutely- that’s not a problem. Just e-mail Jeremy at donaldj@fox.k12.mo.us for more information on that.
When and Where are the games?
Games will take place on Saturdays at Fox/Seckman High and middle schools as well as Windsor, Northwest, Valley Park, Hillsboro and Waterloo (IL) and Dupo (IL). Games will start at 8 a.m. and end around 6 p.m.
What is the goal of the league? Is this a “win at all costs” league?
This league is not intended to be a “win at all costs” league. It’s a league where all of the kids get a chance to play. While I don’t mind if teams go for the win late in the game, the purpose of the league is for the kids to enjoy the game of basketball. More importantly, it’s a league where we want to teach the kids about good character.
